EGAD! THE WOMAN IN WHITE
by Tim Kelly
Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 December 2014
Mary Wallace Theatre
This hilarious spoof of the classic mystery novel is as warming and intoxicating as a glass of Victorian eggnog - a comedic Christmas cocktail of Gothic ghosts, ghoulish gasps, gorgeous gowns... and geriatric gimps. Boo and hiss as conniving cad Percival Glyde marries lovely Laura Fairley, a wealthy heiress, to save himself from crippling debts. Jeer and cheer as he has her banged up in an asylum while pretending she's died, only for all to come right (sort of) in the end. Don't miss out on this laugh-out-loud chance to enjoy Wilkie Collins bothered and bewildered by the spirits of Mel Brooks and Monty Python in a lunatic, multi-layered play-within-a-play that makes Noises Off look right on. Coarse acting? Possibly. Compulsory festive viewing? Absolutely!
